Both experiences offer a blend of education, adventure, and exploration, catering to nature enthusiasts, history buffs, and curious minds alike.

This programme covers a 2D/1N Nature Classroom Camp organised by Nature Green Farm (NGF) at Penang Hill. Nature Green Farm’s Night Exploration is not just exploring the Viaduct-Moniot Trails; it’s an immersive journey into the mysteries and wonders of the night. Feel the tranquillity and sense of adventure as you navigate the trails under the starlit sky.
Unlike daytime Nature Walks, the Night Exploration on Penang Hill unveils a whole new dimension of the ecosystem, revealing hidden wonders and unique experiences. As the sun sets and darkness descends, the forest comes alive with a symphony of nocturnal creatures. The night offers a veil of mystery and a chance to witness the secret lives of nocturnal creatures that thrive in darkness.
Prepare to encounter an array of fascinating creatures that emerge under the cover of night. Witness the astonishing sight of scorpions illuminating the dark with their fluorescent glow, adding an ethereal touch to the adventure. The elusive colugo, also known as the flying lemur, might make a rare appearance, showcasing its graceful glides between trees. Penang Hill Festival
Since its inception in 2018, Penang Hill Festival (PHF) has collaborated with business partners, the hill community, academics, artists and nature enthusiasts to bring together an event suited for everyone. The three-day festival, held every year in July, is aimed at promoting and creating greater awareness of Penang Hill’s nature, history and cultural heritage.
This annual festival offers visitors and locals a glimpse of Penang Hill’s uniqueness, from its century-year-old railway to its lush greenery and rich biodiversity that was certified as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve site in 2021. Visitors can expect an array of exciting and interesting programmes ranging from Talks, Heritage and Nature Discovery Walks, Exhibitions, Photography & Videography Workshops and not forgetting PHF’s signature event, “Music on the Hill – East meets West”.
Trash Free Hill
Trash Free Hill (TFH) is an annual plogging activity aimed at raising awareness and promoting the preservation of the hill. It serves as a platform to educate and raise environmental consciousness and responsible waste disposal, thus protecting and preserving Penang Hill and its biodiversity. Over the years, it has proven to be an impactful initiative, attracting an overwhelming number of volunteers.
By participating in TFH, volunteers contribute to the preservation of Penang Hill, ensuring a pristine environment, maintaining its cleanliness and upholding its status as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. This helps to safeguard the hill’s beauty for future generations to enjoy and its availability for years to come.
Penang Hill Heritage Forest Challenge (PHHFC)
Since its inception in 2014, Penang Hill Heritage Forest Challenge (PHHFC) has always received overwhelming response and earned its reputation as a popular sporting event that attracts thrill seekers and avid runners as well as enthusiasts from all walks of life.
The route will lead runners through the evergreen trails of the Penang Hill Biosphere Reserve – Malaysia’s third and latest Biosphere Reserve, starting from the Quarry Recreational Park at Penang Botanic Gardens and ending at the Dataran, Penang Hill Upper Station. The objective of this event is to promote Penang as one of the popular eco-tourism destinations as well as to instil awareness towards environment conservation and heritage preservation of Penang Hill.
